I’ve been doing some reading about the depiction of women and girls in media and Something occurred to me: Something doesn’t have to be sexy to be attractive. After all, some things just are pleasing to the eye.
Take everyone’s favorite female superheroes as an example. everyone knows they are hypersexualised, though in different ways. the real question is whether this is okay or not. to be honest, the outfits are not the main problem. it is the poses and camera angles. By the way, I’m not talking about making things boring and Realistic. Screw that! I want my fanservice! you can’t have all the fun. Here is a perfect example of people completely missing the point.
‘Practical Superhero Costumes’. It’s Boring, lacking in colour and imagination. That’s not realism, and besides- the entire point is to have some fun!
I honestly don’t understand why the miniskirt and croptop come about. Doesn’t the tunic and leggings look so much nicer?
I guess my next question is whether or not any of you find these images appealing.
These appeal to my own personal tastes. That’s what I’m curious about. What do you all think of these images? And yes, they are not realistic. Surely one can appreciate a person’s beuaty without them needing to be half naked?
So screw the people who want to make everything realistic. I’m just tired of seeing women in bikinis all the time. I love to see elegance, grace and style After all, surely there is a middle ground between oversexualisation and boring?
Thanks for reading.
